General Contractor | Sleep Suites, Preserve Life
AYS Works served as the General Contractor for the Sleep Suites at Preserve Life—a technically demanding, multi-level mass-timber structure designed to redefine restorative architecture.
Constructed entirely from Glulam beams and CLT panels, the building pushes structural boundaries, transitioning from grounded foundations to dramatic sections that hover more than 30 feet above ground level. The project required absolute precision, advanced lifting methodologies, and meticulous coordination across every phase of construction.

Engineering a Complex Mass-Timber Structure
The Sleep Suites presented a unique structural challenge: a multi-wing, multi-level building with varying elevations, cantilevers, and load paths.
AYS Works led the execution of the entire structural system—sequencing the erection of Glulam and CLT elements with high-precision equipment to achieve alignment, stability, and architectural intent. Every lift, connection, and tolerance was engineered and executed to exacting standards.

The result is a building that feels effortless in form, yet is uncompromising in structural rigor.
Suites Designed for Individual Experience
The building houses 50 private sleep suites, distributed across multiple wings and levels. Each suite was constructed with distinct functional requirements and aesthetic identities, requiring careful trade coordination and customized detailing.
In addition to the suites, the facility includes:
Multiple common rooms designed for quiet interaction and recovery
Interconnected wings with varying structural and spatial conditions
Integrated circulation that preserves privacy while maintaining cohesion
As General Contractor, AYS Works ensured that complexity never compromised clarity—delivering consistency across diverse spaces.

A Landmark Glass Installation
One of the defining features of the project is the installation of a 25’ × 11’ single-piece glass panel opening directly into a suite—the largest single piece of glass installed in a building worldwide.

This operation demanded special-grade lifting equipment, precision handling, and millimeter-level coordination across structural, façade, and safety teams. The installation was executed flawlessly, transforming a technical challenge into an architectural statement.
Nature Integrated into Architecture
Each suite opens to a personal garden, designed to grow organic produce for occupants. AYS Works constructed these gardens using furnace-built systems, integrating structure, soil beds, drainage, and access while preserving the calm, restorative intent of the space.
This seamless integration of built form and living systems was central to the project’s philosophy—and required construction discipline at every interface.
Systems, Integration, and Performance
Behind the architecture, AYS Works coordinated the full integration of MEP and building systems, ensuring performance, comfort, and long-term adaptability without disrupting the visual and spatial purity of the mass-timber design.
Open systems were carefully routed and coordinated to align with both structural logic and wellness-driven design principles.
Bringing the Building to Life
The Sleep Suites stand as a testament to AYS Works’ approach to general contracting:
